On May 24, 1802, the fossors who worked to free Priscilla’s catacombs from materials and rubble built up over the centuries had reached its centre, not far from the Greek Chapel, very close to the skylight (fig.5). One of them, who remains unknown, when removing the soil from one of the tunnels, hit some tiles which had kept a niche closed.

August 9, 2013. (Romereports.com) The church of San Francesco a Ripa is the first parish in Rome dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi. It was built in 1231, at the same place where the saint himself stayed, during his trip to Rome.
As we end this month, we would like to thank Most especially The Almighty God for the success of our activities once again this month. We Hope that Our Lord will continue to guide all our activities and bless all our efforts for the Greater glory of his Name. Also, we would like to thank all those who donated financial assistance for our on-going mission. It will really help us for our block rosaries in different poor Barangays and help us prepare for our grand exposition of relics on October. Let's once again remember the events that Happened recently namely: The Block Rosary at Brgy. Baybay, The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Y.E.P. Batch 9 Prayer Meeting. For more photos please visit our official Facebook fanpage http://www.facebook.com/ajpmclm
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam! The relics of the body of St. Pio of Pietrelcina will be permanently exhibited for veneration beginning on June 1. The prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Angelo Amato, will preside at the celebration of the Eucharist to begin the exhibition, which will take place on 11 a.m. on June 1, at the church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina. All those who work with him in the dicastery will join him in pilgrimage to San Giovanni Rotondo to venerate the remains of the saint. Concelebrating with the Cardinal will be Very Rev. Michele Castoro, Archbishop of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo, Very Rev. Marcello Bartolucci, Secretary of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, and many priests, both Capuchins and diocesan. The body of St. Pio of Pietrelcina will remain in the same place, namely in the center of the lower church dedicated to the saint, in a glass reliquary. This decision was made after many phone calls, emails, letters, and the continuous requests of the pilgrims who come to San Giovanni Rotonodo, in which they express the desire to be able to pray once again before the relics of the revered Capuchin. The friars and the Archbishop have seen fit to carry out this initiative precisely in this Year of Faith, certain that it will renew the spiritual benefits that came from the last exhibition (April 24, 2008 - September 24, 2009), and, in particular, to awaken faith in the hearts of the many pilgrims, a virtue of which Padre Pio was and continues to be an exemplary witness in his writings, with his spirituality, and, above all, with the constancy of his life. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam! ![]() On a summer day a little over a hundred years ago, a slim figure in a black cassock stood facing a gang of mercenaries in a small town in Piedmont, Italy. He had just disarmed one of the soldiers who was attacking a young girl, had faced the rest of the band fearlessly, then drove them all out of the village at the point of a gun. The young man was Francesco Possenti, whose father was lawyer for the Papal States and who had recently joined the Passionist Order, taking the name of Brother Gabriel. Francesco Possenti had been the fanciest dresser in town as well as the best dancer. He was a superb horseman and an excellent marksman. Engaged to two girls at the same time and a great partygoer, he had shocked his family by announcing after his graduation that he was going to become a Passionist monk. No one believed him and expected him back within a few weeks. He stayed, and when Garibaldi's mercenaries swept down through Italy ravaging villages, Brother Gabriel showed the kind of man he was by confronting them, astonishing them with his marksmanship, and saving the small village where his monastery was located. As we end this month, we would like to thank Most especially The Almighty God for the success of our activities this month. We Hope that Our Lord will continue to guide all our activities and bless all our efforts for the Greater glory of his Name. Also, we would like to thank the Universal Living Rosary Association of St. Philomena for donating some of their rosaries, scapulars and other sacramentals to us for our on-going mission. Let's once again remember the events that Happened recently namely: The Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus, Veneration of the Relic of St. Geltrude Comensoli, Ash Wednesday and the Visit of the Pilgrim Relic of St. Therese at our diocese. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam! ![]() St. Gerard Majella, religious, is the patron of expectant mothers. He was born at Muro, Italy, in 1726 and joined the Redemptorists at the age of 23, becoming a professed lay brother in 1752. He served as sacristan, gardener, porter, infirmarian, and tailor. However, because of his great piety, extraordinary wisdom, and his gift of reading consciences, he was permitted to counsel communities of religious women. This humble servant of God also had the faculties of levitation and bi-location associated with certain mystics. His charity, obedience, and selfless service as well as his ceaseless mortification for Christ, made him the perfect model of lay brothers. When falsely accused by a pregnant woman of being the father of her child, he retreated to silence; she later recanted and cleared him, and thus began his association as patron of all aspects of pregnancy. Reputed to bilocate and read consciences. His last will consisted of the following small note on the door of his cell: “Here the will of God is done, as God wills, and as long as God wills.” He was afflicted with tuberculosis and died in 1755 at the age of twenty-nine.This great saint is invoked as a patron of expectant mothers as a result of a miracle effected through his prayers for a woman in labor. He died on the 16 October 1755 at Caposele, Italy of tuberculosis. He was beatified on 29 January 1893 by Pope Leo XIII and was canonized on 11 December 1904 by Pope Saint Pius X. SOURCES:
